Hi. I'm Luke.
I’m a doctor by trade and when I heard about the story of Jesus, my curiosity got the best of me. Now, this Jesus has completely changed me.
This is a true story about Jesus and all the strange things occurring in and around Galilee and Jerusalem. The signs along our way will guide us.
Our story begins with angels and prophesies fulfilled. Gabriel, an angel from God drops in to talk with Zechariah in the temple and then to Mary in the village of Nazareth. God will be gifting Zechariah and Elizabeth with a baby boy named John who will prepare the way for the Messiah. To Mary, the miracle of a virgin birth will happen and God will become flesh through her. “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary says to the angel. “May it be as you said.”
It happens! Mary carries God in her womb as she and Joseph, now her husband go to Bethlehem. More angels appear and guide shepherds to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ the Savior, born in a lowly stable.
A few days later, on their way back to Nazareth, Mary and Joseph take Jesus to the Temple and right away Simeon and Anna, a couple of older, wiser folks, know that this boy is the very Son of God.
We see Jesus at the Temple again as he is growing up. He loves being in God’s house and he grows in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
No U-Turn Now
Road Sign Gospel tells the story of Luke. We pick up right at the beginning of his Gospel with the reason he's writing – to make an account of all that happened for his dear friend. The difference in this telling of the story is the use of common road signs. They guide us. The book takes the reader through the entire Gospel story, stopping a few times to check in with Dr. Luke, of course. It is told in the present tense as if Luke were passing by and observing all the events that happen from Jesus' birth to his ascension. The book is 7x7, full color, and 123 pages.
